For AP roles, every candidate completes the same practical exercise before client introduction. It tests GL coding, supporting documentation, purchasing and receiving controls, period treatment, exception handling, and judgment.
Some control failures are disqualifying regardless of total score. Candidates who advance then defend their answers and work through new scenarios live.
For bookkeeping and broader accounting roles, the practical assessment is matched to the work the person will actually own.
Full-time specialists working your hours. Coastline Bench handles recruiting, contracts, international payments, and replacement support.
Teams that need recurring AP or bookkeeping capacity without adding another U.S. accounting hire.
Firms with recurring client work that need additional production capacity. You keep the client, the scope, and the margin.
Standard AP managed seat: $2,000 a month for one full-time specialist.
More senior or specialized accounting roles are priced to scope.
These terms are included in the Staffing Services Agreement.
If your specialist leaves or the fit isn't working, Coastline manages the replacement at no additional Coastline fee while the seat remains active. Billing pauses during the vacancy. Replacement coverage doesn't apply if the role is eliminated, materially changed, or the account is past due.
No annual contract. No termination fee. Thirty days' notice on either side.
If we don’t have someone we’re comfortable introducing, we’ll say so. You aren’t billed unless you start a managed seat.
Start with the work, not the résumé. Tell us what you want taken off the team's plate, which systems matter, and what someone needs to own. We compare that against the screened bench first.
Responsibilities, systems, hours, and must-haves. Usually a fifteen-minute call. Sometimes an email is enough.
We compare what you need against people already screened — typically 3+ years of AP or bookkeeping experience, with hands-on time in a major U.S. accounting system. If we already have the right fit, you meet them. If we don't, we recruit against the role.
Written screen, role-relevant practical assessment, and live session, in that order. Everyone who reaches your shortlist has been through all three, and we run every screening in-house.
You review the shortlist and scores, interview the candidates, and choose. Nobody gets assigned to you.
Verification, contracting, and international payments come before day one. We check in on day 3, day 14, day 30, then monthly.
Accounting-system access should be narrow. The specialist gets what the job requires and nothing more.
Client-controlled access. You create the credentials, set the permissions, and can revoke them whenever you want.
Contractual device requirements. Full-disk encryption, a supported and patched operating system, and multi-factor authentication wherever offered. VPN where required.
No payment authority. They can prepare payment runs. Your team approves and releases them.
No banking credentials. They do not receive your bank login. Reconciliation uses client-approved statements, feeds, or exports.
No unilateral vendor changes. Banking or remit-to changes require independent verification outside the invoice.
For managed seats, specialists sign confidentiality obligations and contract through Coastline Bench. They process and prepare; your team retains approval authority and professional judgment. Additional security details are available on request.
My background is in corporate finance and institutional multifamily asset management, working with operating statements, budgets, forecasts, and the accounting behind them.
Coastline's screening process came from that work. I kept seeing small transaction-level errors become larger reporting problems, so I built the assessment around the judgment and controls I'd want tested before someone supports a client's accounting team.
Coastline is founder-led. I run the screening and remain directly involved in each client relationship.
A managed seat includes recruiting, contractor administration, international payments, and ongoing replacement support. With direct placement, you hire the candidate directly and pay Coastline a one-time placement fee. It typically makes more sense for more senior or specialized roles.
Ask for the assessment overview. It shows how the written exercise works, what it tests, how the live session works, and results from our initial September 2026 screening batch.
Only what the job requires, through credentials you create and control. They never hold banking credentials or login access — if bank reconciliation is part of the role, they work from client-approved statements, feeds, or exports inside the accounting system.
They cannot approve or release payments, add payees, move funds, or change banking instructions. They prepare. You approve. Vendor bank changes get verified somewhere other than the invoice that requested them.
For a managed seat, Coastline handles the replacement at no additional fee while the seat remains active. The engagement stays month to month with thirty days' notice.
Send me the role — or just a few bullets on the work, systems, hours, and must-haves. I'll tell you whether I already have someone on the bench who fits.
